Dr SlaggleberryDr Slaggleberry, who play "experimental metal filth", chat to Voltcase about whats going on in their rock n roll world...
Hi, welcome to Voltcase - how are things?!
Good good
So, how would you describe your sound to a stranger in three words?
Experimental metal filth
What could you say to convince the lazy general public that they should check you out, turn up at your gigs and buy your music?
Come down for a super tight experimental metal show with twists and turns at every point with scary masks to top it off.
What do you guys think of the Internet as a way of promoting yourselves – is it an essential marketing tool, or just another way for people to steal your music without you knowing about it?
I think it’s a great marketing tool for getting your music out there, I think some people rely on myspace to much and just spam people to come check out there tunes, as great as website's like myspace are u still need to do mail outs and use the phone.
Of course people abuse the internet and steal music, most of us are guilty of that, but if there is a band that I am really into then I will buy the album Downloading music is great but you cant beat a solid bit of hardware with the art work and lyrics etc etc…
We try and promote as many local scenes as we can here at Voltcase, what can you tell us about your home town/s and the music scene there? Any bands that we might not have heard of that you think we should check out?
We tend to gig oxford and Luton a lot, so I guess that’s our local scene. And yes it’s good; some great bands to check out are “Cabeza” “50 ft panda” “Xmas lights”.
And, for anyone out there just starting out in a band is there one piece of invaluable advice that you could give them to help them on their way?
Don’t get blind drunk before shows
So, what's the most extreme rock-star type story that's happened to you while on tour or at a gig?
I always seem to end up having issues with the bouncers at venues, must be something in the water lol. Our old singer end getting into a fight with a member of the audience at small gig in Leighton buzzard was pretty funny, some guy tried to grab his mask of him and he flew him self straight at him into the crowd and a huge mosh pit swamp them, but id say the most rock and roll thing was when I lost my ear plugs at the vibe in Didcot, cost me 50 quid they did.
If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?
Q: So what u having for lunch
A: A subway BMT
So, what have you got planned for the rest of the year?
Just done a music video to 1 of the 3 live tracks we are releasing called “tails of the blind donkey” that’s right we are keeping terrible song names alive.
And you can check it out on our myspace account www.myspace.com/drslaggleberry or of course YouTube.
And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?
A metal coffin/torture device that you put people in and VOLT them hahaha.
