Nephu Huzzband'Noisy indie punk' from the Midlands, UK - check em out now!
Hi, welcome to Voltcase - how are things?!
How are things?! Great, we've just finished a residential recording session in Wales in which we wrote some and worked on new material. We also played a festival and shot the new video for our next single 'You Should Have Used An Abacus', which is due out next 6 weeks.
So, how would you describe your sound to a stranger in three words?
Noisy, Indie Punk.
What could you say to convince the lazy general public that they should check you out, turn up at your gigs and buy your music?
The Lazy general public should do all of the above because we're making an effort to do something different from scene bands, they should come see us live for the experience of seeing our songs in a sweaty natural environment.
What do you guys think of the Internet as a way of promoting yourselves – is it an essential marketing tool, or just another way for people to steal your music without you knowing about it?
There's always going to be people who steal music one way or another unfortunately, however we do believe the internet is useful because it's just how people find things these days, and it's the easiest way to update a wide audience about what you're doing.
We try and promote as many local scenes as we can here at Voltcase, what can you tell us about your home town/s and the music scene there? Any bands that we might not have heard of that you think we should check out?
We're from Nottingham which has an okay scene but it could definitely get a lot better, a few more good bands and a few less bad ones. You should listen to Lovvers, TheCusp, Wander Phantom and The Recovery.
And, for anyone out there just starting out in a band, is there one piece of invaluable advice that you could give them to help them on their way?
We'd advise bands not to follow a scene, not to bother with many covers and to try to do something different.
So, what's the most extreme rock-star type story that's happened to you while on tour or at a gig?
We had an ether for about 5 hours before some gig in the middle of nowhere, while on stage we lost all basic motor skills and played pure feedback for half an hour before we got escorted off stage. We then managed to lose our car keys so we slept under the drum kit and some jackets.
If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?
Q. Would you all like a drink? A. Yes, please, a London Pride for Adam, IPA for Jamie, Spitfire for Tom and a Strawberry Daiquiri for Robert.
So, what have you got planned for the rest of the year?
More recording in London, a launch gig in Manchester on October the 7th, 'You Should Have Used An Abacus', our new single, is scheduled for release on the 6th of October, and will come with a heap of exclusives. Our mini 7 track album 'Live in London' Album is also released the same week.
And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?
It means 'Shop 'til you drop', 'f*ck 'til you flop' and 'do whatever you want because you're 18 now and your mum can't do sh*t'. |
