Guns on the Roof Guns on the Roof

Guns, guns, there's guns on the roof, guns, guns, they're made to shoot.... Voltcase chats with punkers Guns on the Roof in our latest music feature.

Hi, welcome to Voltcase - how are things?!

Hey, Things are going great thanks. We just had a fantastic gig at the Blackpool rebellion festival and also our new video ‘Last Orders’ Has just been added to the MTV 2 Playlist. We also have a new ep available on itunes.

So, how would you describe your sound to a stranger in three words?

Melodic, Punk, Rock! Our music has the raw punk rock to the verses, and the Melodic catchy chorus’s what you leave our gigs singing away in your head!

What could you say to convince the lazy general public that they should check you out, turn up at your gigs and buy your music?

At our gigs not only do u get the great punk rock sound, you get the raw energetic entertainment, A show what not many bands give to the public. Also if your lucky you may get a CD and T-Shirt package deal!

What do you guys think of the Internet as a way of promoting yourselves – is it an essential marketing tool, or just another way for people to steal your music without you knowing about it?

It’s the perfect way to promote your music and your band, The introduction of the download chart is one of the best ideas in recent years, Also speaking to promoters from all over the world and promoting your music to the world, you cannot really complain, Plus were not in it for the money, were in it for the music and life on the road!

We try and promote as many local scenes as we can here at Voltcase, what can you tell us about your home town/s and the music scene there? Any bands that we might not have heard of that you think we should check out?

Well we come from leeds and the bands the city have produced over recent years have put leeds on the map. The likes of the Kaiser chiefs, the Pigeon Detectives, The Music to name a few, were hoping to be added to that list of recognized bands from Leeds. A great band to checkout although there not from Leeds is a band called outl4w. Great guys!

And, for anyone out there just starting out in a band, is there one piece of invaluable advice that you could give them to help them on their way?

As long as you stick together and work hard and write good songs you have a chance of a successful future. Try not to worry too much and go enjoy yourself on the road by sleeping with plenty of women and getting pissed, ha ha. Only joking. (but make sure your single)

So, what's the most extreme rock-star type story that's happened to you while on tour or at a gig?

Nearly got murdered by a psycho girl marc slept with! No Comment.

If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?

Why does Dan look like a squirrel!

So, what have you got planned for the rest of the year?

Well we have a UK tour coming up the dates you can check out on our website www.gunsontheroof.com and also our myspace page www.myspace.com/gunsontheroofuk Were also hoping to maybe get to Europe or even Japan and maybe next year try for America. Also keep you eyes peeled for a new G.O.T.R Video!

And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?

Sounds like someone's just been seriously injured by electricity.
