Hydrogyn

Reviewed: "Deadly Passions" CD

Female fronted heavy rock n roll!

Despite an Ill advised Alanis Morissette cover, the Hydrogyn album is, on the whole, a pretty good 'classic' hard rock album.

Lead vocalist Julie has one hell of a voice and, combined with some of the stadium destroying riffs on offer, the tracks really come to life and embed themselves in your brain. And, on the standout tracks where the guitars and vocals merge perfectly together, Hydrogyn sound as good as any of the big haired rock bands that have come before them.

That's not to say that every song is a classic - far from it - but there are some very clear signs on this album to suggest that Hydrogyn could become a very (VERY) big band in a very short space of time.

The voice, music and ability are all in place - if Hydrogyn can keep the quality going over the length of an entire album (and stay well clear of the Alanis Morissette covers) then who knows how big they might get.
