I Hate Kate

Reviewed: "EMBRACE THE CURSE" CD

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: OCTOBER 2008

I really shouldn't like this, but I do - what an album!

Its a bit whiny, a bit emotional, a bit poppy, and has songs about girls, but who cares - it tears along with an energy and enthusiasm that its impossible not to get drawn into and excited by.

An album that, on paper, should be dire, is actually one of the most infectious albums I've heard all year. By combining the poppiness of Scouting For Girls with the darkness of modern day AFI, I Hate Kate have come up with an album that despite (or maybe because!) all of its potential drawbacks, simply raises the bar and punches 10 feet above its own height.

And that's about it, really. If you like strong, powerful rock music with a great sense of melody, then check out I Hate Kate.

Like I said, I shouldn't like this album, but I do, and its our album of the month as well. It kicks ass, buy it.
