Indy 900Reviewed: "Rush", "Take Me Away" & "About Yourself" MP3's
Indy 900 play good inoffensive foot-tapping indie-rock. Not quite rocking enough to be rock, but too rockie to be indie - you know the kind of stuff.
The tracks have some cool 70's style guitar riffs running through them, especially on "Take Me Away", which help to drive the songs along nicely. In fact, Indy 900 describe themselves as "No fancy solos just good riffs" which is spot on - no fancy solos, just good riffs.
"About Yourself" stands out as the best of the bunch, a more upbeat and ballsy track than the others. And this is really where Indy 900 should be focusing - less indie, more rock.
Vocally Indy 900 are again at their best when its a bit shoutie and throatie. And the lyrics do a good job of sounding right, whatever theyre about!
Normally when I review MP3's Ill download them and then blast them out on repeat. Unfortunately, to download the songs on Soundclick you have to sign up, give them your details all that crap, so I stuck with the streaming no-messing about versions of the songs instead. Tip for the future: use a site like PureVolume or something that doesn't annoy or put off the people trying to get to your music!
Conclusion? Some good stuff and, Id imagine, much chunkier live, which hopefully Ill get a chance to see some day!
The Best Bit: Hand claps! The Worst Bit: Having to use Soundclick. Pain in the ass 'give us your email address' website.
