The PilotsReviewed: Online TracksY'know, I really like The Pilots. Although I'm not sure what's going on in that picture over there - is the guy at the back on the left giving a Nazi salute? And is that Johnny Drama standing next to him??
Anyway, on to the music. Almost Lemonheads-like sounding jangly indie pop, this is great summertime music in the tradition of REM's "Document" or anything by Superchunk.
A sign of a great song is the fact that it doesn't get boring, and all of The Pilots tracks just seem to just fly by, with each track wrapped up before it gets stale, forcing the listener to press 'play' just one more time to get another fix.
And this is all pulled off with some great musicianship, some great vocals (including the infrequent female backing) and the most important ability of all - a great grasp on writing a killer pop tune.
Id like to find some fault with The Pilots, but there isn't really much to complain about - they wont revolutionize the music world or anything, but I don't think they really care about that, with the main focus just being on writing a good pop tune.
Overall? Visit their MySpace page (link above) and see what you think - listen to my personal fav, "Rock Show".
