A Fate Painted Black

Well?: A friend (with good taste, I might add) asked me to check out this band he's stumbled across on MySpace. So I did.

A Fate Painted Black sound like modern day AFI gone a little bit wrong. A bit metal, a bit moanie and a bit fast in places. And, despite some good riffs and growlie bits, it just doesn't seem to work as a whole. A few good bits will be strung together, only to be spoilt by some crappy crooning bit straight after.

On the plus side, the guitar stuff and the music in general really is pretty good, and with a bit of work the songs could be tidied up and improved on. Just get rid of the theatrical bits that just aren't happening at the moment. A 'nearly there' from me, I'm afraid...

Overall: Personally, Id say check them out in a year or two, or you can listen to my friend (as I did) and check them out immediately. Up to you.
