Daddy's Little Secret

Reviewed: "Kill Me to Cure Me" MP3

Well? "Kill Me to Cure Me" is a pleasant enough upbeat rock ditty from Reading's own Daddy's Little Secret.

Whilst it has undertones of a stoner-esque groove and Tool style stop-startie bits, the mix is a bit overpowered by the very American, modern and theatrical sounding vocals that, as great as the vocals are, pushes the recording into a more indie / pop direction, as opposed the full out 'rawk' that you might expect with such riffs lurking in the background.

Production values aside, the aforementioned background music has some very cool & quirky riffs, switching from Dead Kennedys style widdles to Steve Albini style chugging, and the whole song has an energy and passion that carries it along nicely.

Overall? Good song, but a missed opportunity - there's seems to be an even greater song lurking in there somewhere. Nonetheless, a band to keep a VERY close eye on....!
