Where to start? Rockabilly girls covered in cool tattoos rank quite highly in our top ten things here at Voltcase, and Soma is no exception!Following on from Jenn Martin, who we featured earlier this year, Soma becomes the second Candy Scandal to feature in Voltcase and, without giving too much away, I think there could be a third turning up soon as well! Sounds a bit like Pokemon, really, where you've gotta catch em all. Or something. Anyway, for more Soma check her out here!
VOLTCASE SOMA SNAKEOIL INTERVIEW:
Hello! Welcome to the almighty Voltcase, how are things? Hello Darlings, Minions and Slaves...I'm very well thanks, honored to be featured in your magnificent cyber-rag.
If you were talking to a stranger, how would you describe yourself in three words: Strawberry Psycho Bitch
So, this rockabilly thing - is it just a look that you're into, or are you into the scene and music side of things as well? I have always collected vintage items and grew up watching black and white movies featuring the great Hollywood starlets. I have a penchant for American diners, old seedy hotels, back alleys and sequins. Rockabilly is my grownup version of my punk rock roots...punk rock with red lipstick and high heeled pinup shoes. I love Rockabilly/Psychobilly music and frequently go to shows. All I need is a hot rod and a lifetime supply of PBR and the picture will be complete!
From what we've noticed, burlesque and dancing work seems to be getting a lot more popular with the models that we encounter through Voltcase nowadyas. Do you do much experience of it yourself, and any thoughts on where this newfound popularity has come from? I am a dancer and have performed burlesque in the past. I have recently launched a new company with two model friends, Jenn Martin and Jennifer Lalo, called Candy Scandals. We are models and performers and will be doing burlesque shows among many other creative projects (that include scads of gorgeous girls taking their clothes off and being loud and lewd).
I think the new alternative model has redefined the cultural expressions of modeling. Burlesque refers to theatrical entertainment of broad and parodic humor, which usually consists of comic skits and striptease. Alternative models today are intelligent, audacious and funny, as well as dead sexy. It seems a natural progression for the women who embody these traits to gravitate to vintage style striptease, which prides itself on bawdiness mixed with elegance.
You seem to be covered in a hell of a lot of tattoos, do they have any personal significance or do they just look cool? My tattoos are a permanent visual journal. They are a chronicle of my passions, pains and pleasures. If pushed I'll explain them, but I really prefer they stand on their own, nonverbally.
A lot of your photographs include two, sometimes three, models. Do you find it easier working with other models, or are they a pain in the ass? And is it something you've chosen to do, or a photographic decision? I work with other models because I love girls as much as the rest of you perverts. Plus it makes for a good picture! Most of the girls I have worked with are delightful. I did a photoshoot a couple weeks ago with an especially lovely fetish model. She and her photographer boyfriend came and stayed with us at Dungeon Servitus for a few days. The hours just melted away as I was zapping her with my violet wand and putting nipple clamps on her and pulling her hair. She was very sweet and made lots of pretty noises...
Voltcase readers tend to be very open minded and very difficult to shock, can you say tell us anything about yourself that would shock even the most hardcore of Voltcase reader? I also work as a Dominatrix from San Diego's finest dungeon, Dungeon Servitus. I'm a true sadist and like to poke with needles, flog, whip and piss on people. I specialise in forced feminization, which basically means I like to dress boys up as girls.
Also shocking, I read Victorian literature and drink lots of tea...
Loud rock n roll plays a big part in our lives here at Voltcase towers, does music influence you at all? Any artists in particular that you fancy name dropping? I'm a music fanatic. Music influences my tattoos, dance, modeling and Dominatrix work. I tend to make major decisions based on Supersuckers songs. I generally listen to Rockabilly/Psychobilly, Indie Rock and Punk Rock, but I'm not opposed to old hard rock or the occasional opera. Lately I've been listening to HorrorPops, Dollyrots, Jack off Jill, Nekromantix, Jack Killed Jill, Tiger Army, Koffin Kats... I dream about David Bowie when I'm sleeping. Don't forget Fifteen, The Cramps and The Clash. I listen to some old country and oldies and right now for hardcore I'm enjoying my friend's band Bury The Living from Memphis.
So, why should the lazy general public make the effort to check you out? Because I'm viscous, sophisticated and trashy! Follow me, I'll show you to the girls! I am involved in several debacherous projects that will titillate and intrigue and hopefully at times educate. I answer all of my fans personally and love to make new friends and the occasional harmless stalker. Also, I travel quite frequently and love to network. Oh, yeah, and for you pervs, you know who you are, yes, you can buy my old shoes and stockings...
And finally..... what does the word 'Voltcase' mean to you? The volt (symbolized V) is the Standard International (SI) unit of electric potential or electromotive force.
Case is a comprehensive term for any proceeding in a court of law whereby an individual seeks a legal remedy.
So voltcase is a huge electric train, powered by screaming musicians and dancing girls careening at break kneck speed, through a court room full of wrinkled men in wigs, where alchemists are on trial for making illegal remedies. Vive le voltcase! |
