Melony BellosoSelf proclaimed "blonde rocker/ model/ actress" Melony Belloso, chats with VOLTCASE.co.uk. We're going to have to wait a bit longer for the album, but in the meantime here are some pics and interview.... (and after youve read it, go off and befriend her on MySpace here)
How are you? I’m cool…just hanging out today.
If you were talking to a stranger, how would you describe yourself in three words: Crazy rocker chick.
As its the January edition of Voltcase, have you made any New Years resolutions for 2007? Yeah, I’ve made some resolutions. I’ll admit some of them are dreams or aspirations that may or may not come to pass, but I know if I never dream and pursue, they definitely won’t come to pass. I am committed to loosing 15 pounds. That’s the easy one. I’m going to keep pushing my acting/ modeling along…even out here in the sticks, by which I of course mean TN. I’d like to sign a management/promotional deal for my band. I’d love to sell even 1,000 cd’s indie style this year. I really am trying to shoot for merging my acting, modeling and music to be a triple threat in the entertainment industry. I’d like to be a rock’n’roller and actress/super model. Oh, and I want to be able to rock all of my songs on guitar by the year’s end. That isn’t too much to ask for, right? LOL! Well…you asked.
What is the largest present you've ever been given? Well…literally speaking…a horse. My step dad bought me a thoroughbred mare for me when I was 13. Figuratively, I’d say my husband and keyboardist Ian. He is amazing, and his love and musical talents have impacted my life more than anything.
What was the worst thing to happen in 2006? That is a huge question. I could say moving to TN…lol…I miss Huntington Beach and surfing and all that, but it has helped my music career along. Actually, I’ve been in the hospital 5 times with severe migraine episodes, as well as a surgery. So…that was pretty horrible. I hope 2007 will bring better health with it.
Who are your biggest influences, and / or who do you admire the most? Well…that is a huge question. I’m going to be cheesy here and first mention my husband again. He is my best friend, and he always encourages me to move forward with my pursuits. He is my rock. Besides him, there is a long list of people I look up to and admire. I’m greatly influenced by my father (musician/surf board shaper/surfer), and my mom and step dad. They all have a lot to do with who I am today. Musically, I would list Alanis Morisette. She is so honest and transparent. I love her lyrics. Also Glen Ballard (producer); I respect his genius as a music producer. Other musical influences would include (but are not limited to) NIN, Depeche Mode, Perfect Circle, Norah Jones, Benjamin Gate, Phil Collins, Twisted Sister, Eric Clapton, Massive Attack, Plumb, Madonna, Tears for Fears, The Killers, Audio Slave, the beetles, Frou Frou and Death Cab for Cutie. Acting wise, I’d list Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel for their acting abilities and their courage to stand up for who they are and what they believe, in a very skeptical entertainment world. I love that they are just human, too. With modeling, my inspiration is Tyra Banks, as cheesy as that sounds. She really is courageous, not to mention gorgeous and smart.
On the other hand, who is the worst human being on the planet? All the terrorists that were involved in 9/11.
If you joined the circus, what act would you most want to perform? I’m not really sure I know much about the circus, except scary clowns…I hate them. I think I would like to be one of those crazy gymnasts that do handstands on horseback. I showed horses (show jumping) growing up. The rush is incredible.
If you had to chose one, which would it be and why: wet clothes for a day or clothes that were too small for a day? Eww; definitely clothes that are too small. I couldn’t deal with wet clothes; gross.
Why should the the lazy general public make the effort to check you out, and what have you got planned for the coming year? I really want to give you a great answer without sounding cocky. Here’s my best shot at that: I have a lot to offer as an artist; being a triple threat. Expect to see me in ads as a model, and in the clubs as a rocker. The lazy general public will want to sing along to my songs (that I write, btw). This upcoming album will be the one they want to play on road trips, or at parties, or wherever. They will be surprised at what pops out of this blonde rocker/model/actress. I have a lot to say…oh, yeah…and I’m not horrible to look at either. Expect to see my out on tour this summer. I’ll look for you all at my concerts.
And finally..... what does the word 'Voltcase' mean? Honestly….when I first heard it, I thought maybe it was an energy drink or some type of like male enhancement drug. I hope you get a laugh out of that, but it’s really what I thought. I’m laughing now as I recall that thought. |
