Knoxville RoxieLooking for some retro, wartime pin-up's? We thought you might be! Then please welcome rockabilly gal Knoxville Roxie, in our latest Voltgirl alternative modeling feature...
Hello! How are you? Bonjourno! I'm alright, thanks. The boss at work is being a div and I'd like to punch him but other than that I am great! Et toi?
If you were talking to a stranger, how would you describe yourself in three words: Weird, clumsy and passionate
What made you want to become a pin up model?
Well, after years of being a tom boy, resenting make up and being insecure, I decided to give modelling a try for a laugh I guess. I felt stupid at first but then I started to enjoy it. I felt glamorous and special laying across a plane half naked. I found make up and gorgeous clothing made me feel better about myself. Once I got the pictures back I felt I had created something that I would have forever, so when my fried eggs are being held back by an elastic waist band I can remember what I did.
Loud rock n roll plays a big part in our lives here at Voltcase towers, does music influence you at all? Any artists in particular that you fancy namedropping? I'm a rockabilly so my life revolves around rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, doo woop, etc. But I do love a bit of power metal and rock. Rockin' artists I woulds uggest as in bands to see would be the Revolutionaries, The GO Getters, Smokestack Lightning and The Space Cadets. My Ultimate Hair band must be W.A.S.P (check out next month's Voltcase for an exlusive with W.A.S.P. - ed) - my sister took me to see them when I was 15 and I flashed them!
Alcoholic tipple of choice? Tequila or Malibu and Beer and, err, beer? But my boyfriend always brings me WKD's no matter how many times I tell him something else, I'm not 15!
Why should the lazy general public make the effort to check you out? Well If they fancy seeing someone who is normal and modelling then that's me, this is the girl who has been in a dance hall dancing in her PJ's and has climbed on stage with stinky loo and the goon <att at the rhythm riot. I'm not just a model I'm a REAL rockabilly, I dance till my make up runs down my face and I play airsoft and I'm learning roller Darby. But it just goes to show you, you don't have to be perfect and priss to be a model and take a great photo. Anyone can do it and it doesn't matter if you have wonky teeth or a fat behind cause Photoshop rules the world.
Who are your biggest influences, and / or who do you admire the most? Biggest Influences? Well the only thing that comes to my head is singers I used to fancy when I was younger like Chris Cornell and Dave Grohl!
Influences... Betty Page, Dita of course, Audrey Hepburn "I don't want to stop I like it! Take the picture, take the picture"
Who do I admire? Well, I don't really admire anyone really, but I do admit to stealing a few things from friends like the love of all things fuzzy and leopard print from Toni and the backs of the arms tattoo's and electric blue, wow I do steal a lot of her! I guess you could say Toni!
And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean? Voltcase to me means a case for volts so I guess a spin on the word for a magazine that holds power! |
