Hi, welcome to Voltcase! How are things!?

Hello, thank you for having me! Things are good, I’ve got some wicked projects lined up which I’m really looking forward to and excited about.

So, how would you describe yourself to a stranger in just three words?

Playful, affectionate and clumsy.

Is there anything in particular that sets you apart from all of the other Voltgirl’s we’ve featured in Voltcase over the years?

I think most successful models have a genre, they’re a vintage model or an alternative model or a fashion model, they have a little niche that they slip into easily – I don’t really have a genre! I’m a little bit glamour, a little bit gothic, a little bit rockabilly and a little bit commercial, all mixed up together. I haven’t quite worked out if it’s a help or a hindrance yet…

Now, on to the modelling – how did it all start for you? Was it something you always wanted to do, or did it just ‘happen’?

I originally wanted to be an actress. I’d always loved Pin-Up art and rockabilly fashion and music, and it was through that love that I stumbled across Bernie Dexter’s clothing range, and then went on to look at her modelling photographs. She looked so effortlessly beautiful and classy, it’s like a lightbulb went off in my head and I thought “I wanna try that!”. I asked a friend if I could borrow his beautiful blue Morris Minor for a couple of hours, got myself all made up and went down to the beach with my boyfriend who took some Pin-Up inspired photographs of me posing with and on the car, and that’s how it all started! I knew after then that I wanted to create art through photographs with my body.

Do you have any personal guidelines on what you will or won’t do for the sake of a good photo, or is it pretty much anything goes? And if you do have any guidelines, have you ever been in a situation where you’ve had to enforce them?

I don’t do nude or topless and I try to avoid cheesy overdone concepts – Apart from that, I’m really open to ideas! The weirder the better. Thankfully I’ve never worked with a ‘level pusher’, I’ve been blessed to work with some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, I’m incredibly grateful I’ve had no nasty experiences. I may do art nude in the future, I won’t rule it out, but as it is I’m very happy keeping my undies safely on!

A lot of the models that we chat to here at Voltcase are often actresses, musicians, writers etc as well. Are you concentrating on just the modelling, or is it just one of many things that you do?

I’d love to get into acting as well, but primarily I’m concentrating on modelling and I’m also planning on starting my own accessory company in the near future. I have some awesome Geisha and Pin-Up inspired ideas whirling around my head, I can’t wait to start creating! I’ve always been creative and have an annoyingly over-active imagination, I love books and writing and coming up with little tunes on the piano and drawing silly little sketches for people.

We’re all a bunch of geeks at heart here at Voltcase, are you particularly geekie about anything in particular yourself – the more embarrassing the better!?

I’m generally geekie in everything I do! I’m not one of these cool, sophisticated ladies who say and wear all the right things and are the life of the party, I’m the awkward girl with a perverse sense of humour, a completely cringe worthy shyness around strangers and a pink hoody with ‘Cool Beans’ emblazoned on the front. I love Star Wars (I’ve always wanted a pet Ewok!), old school Cartoon Network, boy-bands and I have a slight obsession with cleaning… Yeah, I’m definitely not very cool!

If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?

Q: Why did you decide on the name ‘Alice Cat’?
A: Alice is my real forename, but Cat is something I was Christened with by my boyfriend one day about a year and a half ago when I was moaning to him that people always seem to coo over me as if I’m their pet cat or something and how I wished I was more sexy and less cutesy. In true-to-form boy behaviour, he then decided to adopt me with the name Alice Cat! It stuck and when I got into modelling it seemed the perfect alias. Not many people know my surname anymore which is quite fun for me, I like knowing that I could randomly disappear and go back to being ‘normal’ Alice anytime I like and nobody from the modelling world would ever find me unless I wanted them to.

Loud rock ’n’ roll plays a big part in our lives here at Voltcase, are you a big music fan? Any bands or artists you might want to namedrop for us, or any unknown acts that you think we should check out?

I love music of all shapes and forms, Imelda May is a big favourite of mine at the moment as is Sia, and I’ve been in love with Seether since I was about 13 – Shaun Morgan’s voice just cuts through me like a hot knife through butter, I LOVE their rendition of Sinatra’s I’ve Got You Under My Skin, it’s silky smooth!

And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?

Voltcase is someone who has taken the term basketcase and gone above and beyond it’s original meaning – They’re bouncing off the walls with hyperactivity and pure insane behaviour with such vigor that it seems as though they have electricity pumping through their brain instead of blood.
